Lucretia
Mott
1793-1880
Lucretia Mott was a Pennsylvania Quaker and abolitionist. While
attending the
World Anti-Slavery Convention in London in 1840, which prohibited the
women
in attendance from speaking, she and Elizabeth Stanton decided
it was time to address women's rights head on. They organized
the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention, launching the woman's suffrage
movement.
