Jane Goodall

1934-2025

Chimpanzees are humankind's closest relatives. Most of what we know about their behavior in the wild comes from Jane Goodall. Across 60 years of studying the social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees, she became the world's foremost expert on them. She discovered that they make and use tools, fight wars and sometimes kill each other treacherously. They really are almost human.
